Academic and Language Requirements

You will be expected to have achieved a high academic standard in your studies at their home institutions and a similar level of attainment in your pre-university education to that required of full-degree entrants to the University of Bath.

All courses are taught in English and we expect incoming exchange students to have an appropriate level of the language to be able to fully participate in the academic and social environment. Students can only benefit from the exchange if they have the appropriate language competency to enable them to follow lectures and seminars, participate in discussions, and to join in social activities during their time at Bath.

Students whose first language is not English will be required to have achieved the marks listed below on one of the following English Language Tests:

Orientation Sessions

The School of Management holds an introduction session for exchange students, at the beginning of each semester. The aim of these sessions is to welcome you, introduce you to members of staff involved with the academic exchange scheme and to help you through the first few days at Bath. The session also gives you a chance to meet other exchange students and to ask questions. Later on in the semester we hold a workshop on the UK‘s academic system, which will give you a better idea about what it is expected of you in terms of coursework, such as essay writing, exams and so on.

In addition to the events organised by the School of Management, the International Office arranges introductory sessions for all international students joining the University of Bath at the beginning of the semester. They also organise a social programme which you will be invited to participate in.
