Day One
  • Morning Keynote Lecture: Bringing your Business Plan to Life
The entrepreneurial business plan is not a document that's meant to stay on the bookshelf - it lives, breathes and constantly changes to address the needs of the audience it's being presented to. Whilst it certainly has a definite beginning, middle and end, this lecture reveals the interconnectedness of the business plan's elements and shows that sometimes it is better to work from the end - your 'Exit' - and work backwards!
  • Afternoon Lecture: Capturing Investors' Imagination
How to use the most powerful Hollywood storytelling techniques to engage investors, funders, customers and stakeholders so that they understand and support your business.
  • Wrap-Up & Evening Networking
Day Two
  • Morning Lecture: Venture Cannibalism: The Anatomy of a Business Plan
The entrepreneurial business plan is typically presented in Chapters on: the Proposed Product or Service; the Target Market & Sector; the Management Team & Company Structure; an Operations Plan; and Financial Projections. This lecture 'cannibalises' some of the best ideas from successful business plans to help you construct your own.
  • Afternoon Keynote Lecture: Where do customers come from?
Sometimes the simplest questions can 'torpedo' the best crafted business plan: where do your customers come from? Why will they pick you and your service? How will you (and your investors!) make money from this? This lecture will arm you with what you need to build a viable route to market and monetisation strategy.
  • Evening Elevator Pitch Practice
An introduction to the 'Elevator Pitch' and time for some informal practice.
Day Three
  • Creating Competitive Advantage Workshops
It's a harsh world for new companies, many don't make it to their first birthday and some are killed even before that! How does a new company take on the 'giants' and win? The BEP Creating Competitive Advantage workshop series deals with survival strategies for start-ups that want to grow up fast.
  • Workshop #1: Building a credible Sales story for the start-up business plan
  • Workshop #2: Building Business Operations that Scale
  • Workshop #3: Structuring your Executive Summary
  • Entrepreneurs Networking Dinner
Day Four
  • Morning Keynote Lecture: The 'F Word' - Funding strategies for Start-Ups
This lecture will take participants through the 'must have' financials for the entrepreneurial business plan including sales and balance sheet summaries and an exit statement. Most importantly the lecture will equip you with the information you need to develop a funding strategy for your business.
  • Afternoon Creating Competitive Advantage Workshops
  • Workshop #4: Maximising your Intellectual Property
  • Workshop #5: Structuring your Business Plan's Financials
Day Five
  • Submit Executive Summaries & Financials to Investors for Review
  • Morning Keynote Lecture: From Entrepreneur to Leader - Managing Growth
Although its preparation has dominated this week-long Bath Entrepreneurship Programme, the business plan is only the first step on a journey which will hopefully end in significant business success for the founder. This lecture helps to raise the consciousness of entrepreneurs to distinct life stages of a start-up and develop a self-awareness of their own role and contribution to the living, growing company that they have created, but which they may not be a part of forever!
  • Afternoon Investor Pitches & Awards
This is your opportunity to pitch to investors and get real-time feedback on your plan. There's also a prize for the 'Best Pitch' on the day!
