Procuring and Commissioning from the Third Sector Programme (PC3)
PC3 is a four-day course run by Dr Alistair Brandon-Jones in the University of Bath School of Management with the support of Local Government Improvement and Development (LGID). It is designed to help participants engage with, and create practical responses to, the third sector procurement and commissioning challenge.
What issues does the programme explore?
The programme explores the challenges facing procurement and commissioning in the voluntary and community sector (VCS or Third Sector). Drawing on both the latest research and a wide range of public procurement and third sector practitioner experiences, PC3 addresses the fundamental principles of the commissioning. Upon completion of the module, participants will have had exposure to a range of practical tools and frameworks, and developed an understanding of:
- What the Third Sector looks like
- Existing policy commitments regarding third sector commissioning.
- Gaps between policy and practice
- What the Third Sector can offer commissioners
- The barriers and enablers to Third Sector commissioning
Who should attend?
The course is open to anyone with a strategic or operational interest in its core concerns, but is primarily for procurement and commissioning specialists.
How is the course run?
The PC3 course comprises a four-day, highly interactive, taught module, led by Dr Alistair Brandon-Jones. All course content - integrative teaching cases, guest speakers, lectures, exercises and simulations - has been designed to help participants create practical responses to third sector procurement and commissioning challenges.
