MSc in Advanced Management Practice

MSc students & graduates

The MSc in Advanced Management Practice appealed to me because of the placement. I felt that I needed to increase my employability especially in the current economic times… My skill-set has broadened massively. I think if I’d have gone into the world of work just after my undergraduate degree I wouldn’t have nearly as many career choices as I do now. It’s opened a lot of doors for me.

I manage the strategy for spectrum in 34 countries around the world. The other part of my job involves working on auction theory for 4G licenses. This means travelling to the countries where the auctions are taking place and advising the CEO and CTO on bidding strategies.  I really enjoy the work I do and I’m working at a level that I didn’t think I’d get to till at least five years. I think that’s mainly to do with the Advanced Management Practice degree.  It gave me the confidence to go and get the job.

The support we get here is fantastic.  The placement staff are very helpful. They are interested in what we’re looking for in a job. They’ll tailor the jobs that come up and choose the ones that we’re interested in and get in touch with us about those positions.

The MSc in Advanced Management Practice was very hands-on; there was lots of group work and engagement. All in all the MSc in Advanced Management Practice has helped me get a great internship and has given me a great start to my career. It’s taught me a lot about what things matter to me and I’ve developed a lot as a person.

Being a business graduate with very little work experience, I felt this was the ideal postgraduate management degree for me to improve my employability prospects.

This course has been the biggest differentiating factor in my career. A Master’s degree from a top ranked university combined with a placement in a strong multinational company reflects well not only on your C.V but also in your work practice.

Having done extensive research on top Universities in the UK, I decided to opt for the University of Bath. I will not deny the fact that the beautiful city of Bath played some part in my final decision, yet the main reason for choosing the University of Bath was the course – MSc in Advanced Management Practice.

For six breathtaking months I worked for L'Oreal at their head office in London as a Commercial Intern in the Luxury Products Division. Fast paced, dynamic and full of exceptionally capable people, I worked in a vibrant environment and was given considerable levels of responsibility from the start.

Carsten Schebsdat
Whilst I was on my placement as European Market Analyst at one of the world's largest integrated energy companies, I experienced a steep learning curve. Not only did I apply the knowledge acquired throughout my study at Bath, but I was given great opportunities to advance myself and to gain an in-depth understanding of the various businesses that the company operated in.

Lu Wang
I was particularly anxious to be accepted onto this programme, due to the inclusion of a five-month work placement as the final part of the year. I felt that, apart from giving me some much needed business experience, it could make me a prime candidate for a permanent position in the placement company. I am pleased to report that this is a distinct possibility although the company is currently undergoing a period of reorganization which, inevitably, involves a degree of down-sizing. Nevertheless, I have already been awarded an extension, due to the need for follow-on work to be undertaken, associated with my placement.
