What did you study for your first degree? As an undergraduate I studied at the University of Hull where I achieved a First Class BA (Hons) in Management with International Experience - three years studying in Hull and one year studying in Singapore. Why did you choose to study the MSc in Advanced Management Practice at Bath? The MSc in Advanced Management Practice was packed full of interesting modules, a work placement that would give me the experience I needed to enter a graduate scheme, and ultimately, the chance to prove my potential in a top 5 business school. Tell us about your work placement For six breathtaking months I worked for L'Oreal at their head office in London as a Commercial Intern in the Luxury Products Division. Fast paced, dynamic and full of exceptionally capable people, I worked in a vibrant environment and was given considerable levels of responsibility from the start. From project managing the delivery of country-wide incentive schemes for staff at Boots, to organising our presence at a range of conferences, my tasks were consistently wide-ranging and provided me with valuable personal and professional development. What you are doing now you have finished the programme? After working as an Intern for L'Oreal, I followed a personal passion for automobiles and entered the graduate scheme at Mercedes-Benz. Over the next eighteen months, I will work in four different departments, developing a rounded picture of the business. I hope to secure a full time position in 2010. How has the programme helped you with your career? The MSc in Advanced Management Practice has allowed me to really get to grips with my future and put in place a solid platform from which to enter my professional career. Providing an opportunity to stretch both my theoretical and practical knowledge of business, it has broadened my horizons as a graduate and brought me into contact with a unique bunch of people – both culturally and intellectually. Perhaps most important of all, it has given me the foresight required to direct my energy into the pursuits that are most likely to allow me to achieve my aspirations and ambitions. |
