Dr Anthony RoathDirector of Studies, Senior Lecturer in International Management Broadly, my research interests focus upon understanding the dynamic capabilities global supply chains must develop collaboratively to compete. In particular, this includes studying how organizations manage their relationships and how organizations balance the need to manage these relationships efficiently while obtaining and maintaining access to limited and/or decreasing resources. This has led to a growing interest in sustainability in terms of how global organizations contribute to and work within society. |

Dr Felicia FaiLecturer in Business Economics My research considers innovation and technology as drivers of economic growth (at firm, industry and national levels) and the issues surrounding them in a globalizing world. I combine resource-based and evolutionary economics perspectives and have used patent indicators to trace the evolution of corporate and industrial technological competence and diversification. I am interested in why and how do firms, industries and nations generate/ access new technologies from across the world, how they exploit, share and transfer it, and what hinders/facilitates these processes? E.g. what role do intellectual property systems have in these issues? How do these relate to national comparative advantages and policies? I am currently pursuing two areas: (a) investigating the technological competences emerging in China and their implications for China, UK and others and (b) investigating the challenge of emergent players to the established duopoly in global aerospace. I welcome PhD applications in these areas. |

Professor Michael MayerProfessor of Strategy My main research interests are focused on developing our understanding of the way in which strategies, and associated processes and practices, relate to the wider institutional setting in which organizations operate. In this context I have a particular interest in diversification strategy, the relationship between strategy and organization, and international management. A related area of interest lies in comparative business organization and management. |
|
Professor Edmund ThompsonProfessor of International Management Main research interests cover national and firm competitiveness and the interrelationships of each with (i) international business strategy, (ii) international political economy environments, and (iii) the socio-psychological aspects of national cultures and individuals. |

Dr Greg SchwartzLecturer in Organisation Studies I teach on the course People in Organisations in year 1. My key research interests are management and organisation in comparative perspective, co-evolution of institutional and organisational change, and management in emerging economies. For further information, please visit my website. |
|
Dr Mehdi BoussebaaLecturer in Organisational Studies My main research interests lie in the nature of control and coordination in multinationals under the twin influences of globalisation and national contexts. I am currently focusing on professional service firms and examining control and coordination processes at multiple levels of analysis, including global projects, knowledge sharing and employee mobility. Theoretically, I draw primarily on the two fields of international management and organisation theory (principally comparative institutionalist theory). |
