Governance and Power through Indicators: The UK Higher Education Teaching Excellence Framework



Professor Roger King, who was co-chair with Lord Norton of the Higher Education Commission's inquiry into the regulation of the new higher education landscape, will give a presentation focusing on the emergence of the TEF as an extension of the performance measure culture that has enveloped the UK public sector. His analysis will include how the TEF responds to demands for numerical, rank-ordered, and comparable data. He will outline benefits as well as unanticipated effects which subvert policy makers intentions.

This seminar will take place on 19 October 2017 at 11.00 – 13.00 the School of Management Executive Suite, The Edge, University of Bath. All welcome.

Transforming Universities for Peace: Lessons from Colombia



DBA (HEM) alumnus Dr José Restrepo, President of Universidad del Rosario (ranked in first place in Colombia in the Scimago ranking of research and in the top 40s in Latin America) will give a presentation on how research intensive universities became more innovative to respond to the crises facing the country, how major obstacles were overcome and the lessons for universities in other countries.

This seminar will take place on 19 October 2017 at 17.30 – 18.30 followed by a reception in the School of Management Executive Suite, The Edge, University of Bath.
