Dr Richard Fairchild, Lecturer in Corporate Finance at the School of Management, gave a presentation earlier this week at 'Behavioural Finance 2010: Strategies for Improving Trading and Investment Performance', a one-day conference in London.

Professor Andrew Graves of the School of Management was a speaker at The Spectator’s recent one day Defence Conference at the QEII Centre in London. He presented a paper, for panel debate, entitled ‘Defence Procurement in Crisis - a call for Leadership’.
23 November 2010: CSR Best Paper award for School of Management team at BAM
The School of Management’s Paul Caulfield, FME Fellow, PhD student Gabriela Miranda and Dr Mina Vasalou Research Officer, recently won the Best Paper award for the CSR track at the British Academy of Management’s 2010 Conference in Sheffield in September.

14 October 2010: Inaugural Global MBA Residency held at Stellenbosch University
Professor Richard Elliott, Dean of the University of Bath School of Management, joined seven Bath MBA students last month to take part in an inaugural Global Residency in collaboration with Stellenbosch University, South Africa. Also taking part in the residency was Dr Juani Swart, Director of the Work and Employment Research Centre (WERC) at the School of Management. Juani is also a visiting Professor at Stellenbosch.

A recent photography exhibition (4-9 Oct) charting the development of Tashkent, one of Asia’s most ancient cities, recently took place at Bath Central Library, thanks to links forged recently between the School of Management and Tashkent State University of Economics (TSUE).

A University of Bath academic has written a new report quantifying the implications of the government’s proposal to remove the requirement to annuitise personal pension schemes at retirement. In the report Professor Ian Tonks of the School of Management challenges the view that the proposed changes will be beneficial for pensioners.

July 2010 saw the publication of a special issue exploring ‘New Directions for Boundaryless Careers’ in the Journal of Organizational Behavior (a top tier peer- reviewed journal, ranked 4th in the Association of Business Schools’ (ABS) Academic Journal Quality Guide 2010). This issue was guest-edited by the School of Management’s Dr Svenja Tams, Lecturer in Organisation Studies, in collaboration with Professor Michael Arthur from Suffolk University, Boston, MA.

Professor Klaus Meyer delivered a keynote address on multinational enterprises from emerging economies at the annual meeting of the Chinese Economic Association (UK) in Oxford on July 13th. The speech was delivered in a special forum on the competitiveness of Chinese enterprises, sponsored by Fudan University of Shanghai.
