MBA and MSc graduates celebrate in style at Bath's Guildhall

Following their formal graduation award ceremony on December 15th 2009, MBA and Master’s graduates enjoyed bubbly and canapés with family, friends and School of Management staff and alumni in Bath’s historic Guildhall Banqueting Room.

The evening included a formal prize-giving ceremony to award high-achieving graduates from across the programmes with prizes, sponsored by some of the School’s corporate partners and alumni.

 

Professor Richard Elliott, Dean of the School of Management began proceedings and congratulated all the students on successfully completing their studies.

The prizes were then awarded to the following ten graduates:

After the prizes were awarded, the School’s Alumni and External Relations Manager, Diana Braddock, with Suzanne Carrie, Alumni and External Relations Officer, invited the graduates to take advantage of the services provided to them by the School’s Alumni Network, remarking that graduation does not mean the end of their involvement with the university and that they can enjoy a life-long relationship with the School of Management. Two School of Management alumni were present at the celebrations; Fernando Flores-New (full time MBA 1990), who generously sponsors the Flores-New Prize and Nick Hale (BBA 1990) who presented the MSc Accounting and Finance prize on behalf of his employer KPMG.

The University of Bath School of Management has consistently achieved both top research and teaching ratings in the UK's Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) assessments. In the 2008 Research Assessment Exercise (RAE), the School was rated 5th in the UK for management research.

The centrality of research to teaching is an essential feature of all our programmes. The School offers a full range of programmes from undergraduate to postgraduate up to PhD level and post-experience programmes including the world-ranked Bath MBA. The School also provides tailored executive development programmes for middle and senior management.

The School of Management has a faculty of around 90 teaching and research staff, including visiting academics, with a support team of around 70 managerial and administrative staff. Research income averages £2 million per annum. There are approximately 2,100 students in total comprising some 200 MBA students, 370 Master’s students, 210 full- and part-time research students, and over 1100 undergraduates following BSc degrees. The School also runs joint undergraduate programmes with Departments in the Faculties of Engineering and Design, Science, and European Studies and Modern Languages.
