Inaugural Global MBA Residency held at Stellenbosch University
Professor Richard Elliott, Dean of the University of Bath School of Management, joined seven Bath MBA students last month to take part in an inaugural Global Residency in collaboration with Stellenbosch University, South Africa. Also taking part in the residency was Dr Juani Swart, Director of the Work and Employment Research Centre (WERC) at the School of Management. Juani is also a visiting Professor at Stellenbosch.
Commenting on his return, Professor Elliott said:
“This residency underlines our commitment to partner with leading international business schools in order to offer a global experience to students on both the one-year full-time MBA and our part-time, Executive MBA programme. Other residencies are available through collaboration with Florida International Business School and Tsinghua Business School in China. These teaching partnerships extend and develop the global context we have firmly embedded across the Bath MBA and which includes opportunities for international syndicate and project work across both programmes.”
He continued:
“This development of a programme of Global MBA Residencies extends our long-standing partnerships with 40 international business schools which offer exchange and placement opportunities to our undergraduate students. The programme of Global MBA Residencies offers participating MBA students the opportunity to:
- heighten their awareness of international management issues by exposure to the business environment of another country;
- experience the impact of different political, economic, social and technological contexts on business activity;
- gain an insight into companies operating in another country;
- work on a small applied project in that country;
- apply knowledge from the classroom to a real situation.
