BSc Accounting and Finance student wins Undergraduate of the Year award

Second year BSc in Accounting and Finance student, Leanne Sweet, has been awarded First Year Undergraduate of the Year, at the Undergraduate of the Year Awards, held at East Wintergarden in Canary Wharf last week.
The awards, sponsored by Target Jobs (GTI Publishing), celebrated ‘the UK’s brightest undergraduates’ and consisted of just eights prizes, each one sponsored by one of the top graduate recruiters.
Leanne, who is now in her second year of studies at the School of Management, competed against 421 other students and undertook a number of online tests, interviews and assessment exercises to emerge as overall winner of the award, which was sponsored by Ernst & Young.
Leanne responded to her win, saying:
"I am delighted to have won. Both Target Jobs and Ernst & Young were very helpful at every stage. My prize was a summer internship at Ernst and Young and a trip to Florida to attend the Global Leadership Conference. I feel this will help with future job aspects and it has been a great experience."
The University of Bath in fact had two winners and six students were shortlisted, the most of any university, proving it to be the best performing university at the Awards. The other winner was Hamish Woodrow, who won the Engineering Undergraduate of the Year Award.
Chris Phillips, UK and Ireland Publishing Director for GTI Publishing, said of the result:
“It’s a measure of your success in producing academically gifted students with the sort of personal skills that recruiters want.”
