Paul Caulfield wins Innovation in Learning & Teaching Award

Paul CaulfieldPaul Caulfield has been awarded a University Learning and Teaching Award for his innovative approach to learning and teaching.

Recognised by both colleagues and students, Paul’s contribution to curriculum design, content and delivery on the Business and Society unit of the School’s unique MSc in Advanced Management Practice (AMP) was commended.

Known for a range of innovative teaching activities designed to support students in their learning about social and environmental responsibility, such as the Sustainable Innovations Workshop and the SMS Stakeholder Game, Paul’s passionate and enthusiastic approach was praised.

Paul commented:

“Working with the AMP has been great fun and a big thank you goes to all the staff and students who have supported and collaborated on these projects. It is great to be recognised in this way, and I look forward to introducing more teaching innovations in 2013.”

The Innovation in Learning and Teaching Award recognises a significant contribution to innovation in curriculum design, content or delivery. The Awards Committee looks for nominees who can provide evidence of pedagogical innovation, either one example of major change, or a record of innovative practice over several years.

Paul Caulfield is an ESCR/FME Fellow in the Centre for Business and Society at the University of Bath. His academic work is built upon experience gained in Corporate Social Responsibility with BP where his role was to develop guidelines for community investment and engagement strategy focusing on improving sustainable interventions. Prior to joining BP, Paul held senior roles in strategic business planning, focusing on business modelling and origination for major European and US banks. His research interests are Corporate Community Investments, Corporate Citizenship, Corporate Philanthropy and Employee Volunteer Programs.

The School of Management has a faculty of around 90 teaching and research staff, including visiting academics, with a support team of around 70 managerial and administrative staff. Research income averages £2 million per annum. There are approximately 2,100 students in total comprising some 200 MBA students, 460 Master’s students, 210 full- and part-time research students, and over 1100 undergraduates following BSc degrees. The School also runs joint undergraduate programmes with Departments in the Faculties of Engineering and Design, Science and Humanities and Social Sciences.
