MSc Summer Ball Celebration

180 MSc students celebrated the end of the year at a magnificent Summer Ball at the Roman Baths on 14th June.

Guests were invited to a Welcome drink in the beautiful surroundings of the Roman Baths Reception Hall and Terrace before sitting down to enjoy a three course meal in the Pump Rooms.

During the meal guests were entertained by a table magician who astounded everyone by turning paper into money, and other logic-defying feats. Guests were also amused by a professional artist who circulated round the room drawing caricatures, highlighting ‘best’ features. 

During the evening, the winners of the Student of the Year Awards were announced for each of the School’s MSc programmes. The Awards were established to give students a chance to vote for a fellow student; someone they thought deserved particular recognition.

The winners were presented with a certificate and a £50 Amazon voucher. The winners were: Jonathan Tavernor  (Management), Qiulu Xue (Accounting & Finance), Moritz Sprenger (Advanced Management Practice), Simone Zatti (International Management), Olga Herrera Monterrubio (Innovation & Technology Management) and Johannes Helms (Marketing).

The following day, 200 PG students and staff braved chill winds to attend the Big Summer BBQ, which was moved to the warmth and comfort of the Parade Bar. The BBQ lasted well into the late afternoon and everyone agreed was a perfect way to round off the year.

Xinquan Liu (Accounting & Finance student) said: “I really enjoyed the Summer Ball and the BBQ; they are some of the most memorable moments of my life.”

Johannes Helms (Marketing student) remarked: “The Summer Ball was the pinnacle of all the nights out here in Bath, so classy and full of fun and excitement. The BBQ the day after was great fun and gave everyone a chance to reminisce about the night before."
