22 December 2014: Student app design winners get set for Silicon Valley

An app designed to help job seekers prepare for psychometric and aptitude testing has taken top prize in this year’s University of Bath’s student Apps Crunch Competition, winning the team a trip to Silicon Valley to meet University alumni working in leading global tech companies.

19 December 2014: MSc students complete the Zurich Community Challenge

This year 112 MSc students from the School of Management took part in the annual Zurich Community Challenge. The challenge involves collaboration between Zurich, local charities and organisations, the School of Management and theStudents’ Union to give MSc students an opportunity to volunteer and make a difference to local organisations.

8 December 2014: Making the case for evidence

Making management decisions based on the best available evidence may sound obvious, but not in practice it seems. Rob Briner, Professor of Organisational Psychology, is on a mission to make evidence-based decisions as routine for the profession of management as it is for others.

3 December 2014: Rainbow Centre £30 Turnaround Challenge

Students studying the MSc in Entrepreneurship and Management have raised almost £800 for The Rainbow Centre for Children as part of the Rainbow Centre £30 Turnaround Challenge. Students received an investment of £30 and were given 30 days to raise as much money for the charity as possible. The proceeds of the challenge will support local children and families affected by life threatening illness and bereavement.

6 November 2014: Phil Tomlinson advises MPs on green car manufacturing

Dr Phil Tomlinson, an expert on industrial policy from our School of Management, has presented policy proposals to MPs in the All-Party Manufacturing Group and industry representatives on how UK manufacturing can capitalise on Low Carbon Vehicles (LCVs).

6 November 2014: Bath 1st in UK in the Corporate Knights Global Green MBA ranking

The School of Management has been ranked first in the UK and eleventh overall, out of 100 schools worldwide, in the Corporate Knights Global Green MBA ranking.  The School has also placed third in the world for published Faculty research in the area of sustainability.

7 October 2014: CIBAM supports Hellenic Entrepreneurs Association Annual Forum

On 7th October 2014, the Hellenic Entrepreneurs Association organised its second Annual Forum on 'The rejuvenation of the Greek economy', with the support of Centre for International Business and Management (CIBAM) . The event was held at the King George Hotel, Athens, and was addressed by Dr Apostolopoulos, President of the Association and Board Member of CIBAM, and by Professor Christos Pitelis, CIBAM Director.

1 October 2014: Trust will out: how the financial crisis boosted the best leaders

Six years on from the financial crisis and still many of us feel deeply unsure about institutions and individuals we had previously revered as beacons of reliability and certainty. The need to repair that broken trust has put pressure on leaders within banks and other household-name businesses to doubly demonstrate their trustworthiness to their customers, to their employees and to society at large. Among the finger-pointing and mea culpas, however, a more optimistic picture emerges.

22 August 2014: The Carolyn Dexter Award for Best International Paper 2014

A paper by The School of Management’s Dr Mehdi Boussebaa, co-authored with Prof. Yiannis Gabriel and Dr Shuchi Sinha, entitled “Englishization in offshore call centres: A postcolonial perspective” was one of just 22 papers to be nominated for the Academy of Management 2014 Carolyn Dexter Award for the Best International Paper.

The 2014 National Student Survey (NSS) results have been published today (Tuesday 12 August) and see the University of Bath School of Management ranked number one for Business Studies in terms of student satisfaction in the UK for the second year running; achieving an impressive rating of 97 per cent in the influential survey.

Dr Liz Sanders, Associate Professor in the Department of Design of The Ohio State University, was hosted by Dr Svenja Tams. Dr Sanders' visit provided the opportunity to pilot co-design methodologies as part of a research project on 'Engaging Customers and Communities in Sustainable Water Use', undertaken by the School of Management in collaboration with Wessex Water.
