Bath DBA student elected as Rector of the Universidad del Rosario

Jose Restrepo, a student on our DBA in Higher Education Management programme, has been elected as Rector of the Universidad del Rosario in Colombia.

Founded in 1653, the University is one of the most well established in Latin America; with more than 13,000 students, over 100 academic programmes and a strong emphasis on linking teaching with research.

After a six month election process, Jose was voted to the role of Rector by a majority of 18 of the 20 electors; 15 of whom are high-achieving students of the University. Jose will retain the position of Rector from 2014 to 2018 with the President of Colombia receiving his acceptance to the position in October 2014.

Jose Resrepo commented:
"The DBA programme has been an extraordinary and unique experience to improve my knowledge and practical expertise in order to lead flagship universities. My time as Rector of Universidad del Rosario will provide a great opportunity to use the knowledge gained from the DBA to build excellence in the higher education system in Colombia."

Previously, Jose was a member of the Ministry of Education National Council on Quality Assurance, President of Universidad Empresarial de la Camara de Comercio de Bogota and President and Dean of CESA School of Business.
