A team of three Bath School of Management students: Katerina Tsironi (MSc in Management with Marketing), Destina Cavdar (MSc in Management with Marketing) and Marine Levillain (MSc in International Management), who formed the team ‘Dans Ma Valise’, have achieved the accolade of UK national winners at the 2015 L'Oréal Brandstorm competition.

L'Oréal Brandstorm is a prestigious international business simulation competition that allows students to experience stages of the brand management process and has been running annually since 1992. This year the competition theme is “Let Innovation Take Off”, with L'Oréal Travel Retail and Lancôme forming the case study students had to tackle. Students took on the role of an International Marketing Hub Director, analysing and proposing innovations to develop and ensure greater visibility for the Lancôme brand, which celebrates its 80th anniversary this year.

56 teams from universities across the UK participated in the competition. The first challenge included conducting market research concerning the travel retail sector with a focus on the Lancôme brand; eight teams were then selected as semi-finalists. During the semi-finals, ‘Dans Ma Valise’ designed a project aiming to enhance the customer experience in Lancôme’s duty free stores. After being selected for the national finals and presenting ideas to a panel of judges from L'Oréal, the team were selected as the UK national winners. The next challenge for the team will be representing the UK in the international finals at L'Oréal's global headquarters in Paris where they will have a chance to win €10,000.

‘Dans Ma Valise’ team member, and MSc Management with Marketing student, Destina Cavdar commented:

“This has been an amazing experience! We had the exceptional opportunity to work with professionals from L'Oréal and a creative agency as well as meeting new students from all over the UK. This competition gave us the opportunity to apply our knowledge around marketing that we enhanced during our year at the University of Bath.
We would like to thank our lecturers Dr Chris Archer-Brown, Dr Haiming Hang and Dr Dimitris Paraskevopoulos who really helped us to put our ideas together and develop our winning project by providing us with feedback and their expertise.”
