The results of the 2014 Research Excellence Framework (REF) have confirmed the University of Bath School of Management’s position as one of the UK’s leading research- intensive business schools.

The results show that 84% of the School’s research has been assessed as ‘world-leading’ or ‘internationally excellent’.

The School’s overall position of 8th in the UK* places us alongside the top UK business schools and consolidates our outstanding research reputation as evidenced in the previous three research assessments over the last two decades.

With 35% of early- career researchers included in the submission, the School’s research environment also ranks highly, showcasing the sustainability and vitality of our research culture.

Professor Veronica Hope Hailey, Dean of the School of Management, said:
“The REF results confirm our reputation as one of the UK’s leading business schools. Our track record for both teaching and research is outstanding.  At Bath we equally value research, teaching and citizenship and offer a strongly supportive environment for all our students, from undergraduate to PhD, to deliver a first-class student experience.

“Through our scholarship we engage business and society to influence the present and shape the future. We achieve this through being a collegiate, socially responsible Management School conducting international, leading-edge research.”

Our high performance in the REF 2014 sits alongside our recent teaching and student satisfaction scores which rank us 1st for Student Satisfaction in Business Studies for the second year running (NSS 2013 & 2014), 1st for Accounting & Finance (Complete University Guide 2015), and 2nd in the UK for our Executive MBA (The Economist’s Which MBA? 2013).
