Course registration

Monday 25 September 2017

You need to attend this session to officially register for your course in the School. This is your first opportunity to meet your classmates and during this welcome session you can also enjoy some free refreshments.

Director of Studies Welcome

It is very important you attend this session as you will meet your Director of Studies, your Student Experience Officer and Programme Officer/ Administrator.

You will receive important information about your course and your studies including choosing optional units (modules), who to contact for help and support, the course structure, exams and assignments, referencing and becoming an Academic Rep.

The welcome reception was absolutely stunning and great for networking.

Global networking

Come and learn more about networking through a variety of interactive and fun activities, this is a great opportunity to meet MSc students from other courses and countries. You will be allocated a particular day and session. Further information will be available on your arrival.

Postgraduate Welcome Reception

An informal drinks reception to give you the opportunity to meet and network with other new postgraduate students and staff working in the School.

Introduction to Library Services

The Library provides you with a huge amount of high quality information to help you in excel in your studies. Helen Rhodes (Subject Librarian for Management) will help you to navigate the resources on offer, so that you can use these tools to your advantage. Helen will introduce you to the skills of literature searching (using Business Source Complete and Scopus) so that you are able to conduct the independent research needed on your Masters programme. Your Library induction provides a foundation for the database workshops that Helen will deliver later in the semester.

Study Skills

To successfully complete a Master's degree requires more advanced levels of study and research skills than your undergraduate studies. This talk will introduce you to some key study skills for the year ahead.

Careers: How to get your ideal job

We are very proud of our excellent MSc record on employability. This session will give an overview of what graduate recruiters look for, the recruitment process and timeframe. You will also hear about the careers support available to you from the School of Management and University Careers Service.
