Graduation ceremonies
Graduation ceremonies are among the most significant events in the University calendar. With ceremonies in the summer and the winter, we celebrate the achievements of our students and give them and their families a day to remember. The Events & Ceremonies Office ensures the smooth running of award ceremonies and has responsibility for project management, logistics and publicity.
Public lecture programmes
The public lecture programme is one of the links between the University and the public, providing a means for local people - as well as University staff and students - to hear a wide range of external intellectually stimulating speakers. The Events & Ceremonies Office is responsible for organising the programme and the receptions for the speakers.
Showcase Lectures
Showcase lectures, showcase the research of the University, they involve at least two speakers and are often cross disciplinary. These lectures are open to staff, students and the public.
Royal and VIP Visits
The Events & Ceremonies Office takes the lead co-ordinating role, liaising with the Palace Office, the Lord Lieutenant's Ofice, the Vice-Chancellor's Office and staff.
Openings of new buildings
The Office is responsible for drawing up a list of guests for each occasion, in consultation with the Vice-Chancellor's Office.
Corporate hospitality for 'one off' events
The Office is responsible for drawing up a list of guests for each occasion, in consultation with the Vice-Chancellor's Office.
Ceremonial events
The installation and inauguration of a new Chancellor or Vice-Chancellor.
