- If we approve you for training, we will then email you to confirm your place

Editing in the CMS - essentials
Audience
- Contributors (required after completing the Web Awareness and Web Writing course)
Prerequisites
In order to attend this course you must:
- have basic knowledge of working with files and folders (copying, moving and renaming files)
- have basic knowledge of editing and formatting pages (such as in Microsoft Word)
- have successfully completed the Web Awareness and Web Writing course
If you do not meet the above criteria then you are advised to attend one of Computing Services Computing for beginnners training courses or if you have any queries regarding your eligibility to attend the course then contact Web Support.
Course outline
This course builds upon the principles and exercises used in the first course. Using practical demonstrations, we will show you how to carry out basic editing and how to improve existing web content. Adding images and creating new web pages will not be covered. See Editing in the CMS (intermediate).
- Find help and resources (tutorials, web support, site editors and faculty web editors)
- Open a page for editing
- Find their way around the CMS workspace
- Edit a page, including creating links
- Paste content from Word or other sources
- Publish content
- Use the BathPeople macro to add contact details
- Knowing what to refer to:
- Faculty Web Editors (for departments, research groups/centres) or
- Web Services (for professional services)
All the above will be taught using the Visual Identity and Web Standards.

- Two hours, with a refreshment break
