Introduction

BICS Workshop:
Computation of Flow & Transport
in Heterogeneous Media
University of Bath, 19-20 June 2006

Themes

  • New developments in discretization methods: e.g. multiscale finite elements, sub-grid modelling, discontinuous Galerkin, adaptivity, stochastic finite elements.

  • Solvers: e.g. multiscale coarsening, algebraic multigrid, homogenization/multigrid, special domain decomposition methods, deflation methods.

  • Applications: e.g. groundwater flow, transport in porous media, oil recovery, modelling composite media, sedimentary basin simulation.
