New York University awards thesis prize to Bath graduate

The New York University Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences has awarded Mathematics graduate, Alastair Doggett the Math Master's Thesis Prize 2017.

He received the award for his work on probability theory with Professor Paul Bourgade.

Alastair graduated with an MMath Mathematics degree from Bath in 2013, before going on to study an MSc at the Courant Institute.

Each year the Courant Institute awards several student prizes to recognise exceptional promise and accomplishment at various levels.

He commented: "My first year course in programming and discrete mathematics at Bath helped me a lot with the practical aspects of my job.

"I would like to thank everyone at the Department of Mathematical Sciences at Bath who taught me during my undergraduate degree."

Alastair is currently working as a Machine Learning expert on Wall Street.
