Two funded studentships in mechanical engineering
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Department of Mechanical Engineering to work with Professor Chris Bowen, who has been awarded an European Research Council (ERC) Advanced Fellowship in Novel Energy Materials: Engineering Science and Integrated Systems (NEMESIS).
About the project
Start date: From February 2013.
Funding: Standard stipend and Home/EU fees for three years.
NEMESIS aims to create new piezolectric and ferroelectric energy harvesting systems capable of converting:
- mechanical vibrations into electrical energy
- thermal fluctuations into electrical energy
- sunlight into chemical and electrical energy
- vibrations into chemical energy
How to apply
Two studentships are available for students with British or EU citizenship.
Applicants should have a degree in engineering, materials, physics, chemistry or a related area and be able to demonstrate understanding of materials, smart structures or energy harvesting systems at experimental or modelling level.
Apply online selecting 'PhD programme in Mechanical Engineering (full-time). When asked for finance information, enter: 'Project NEMESIS (Professor Bowen)' .
