David Barker retires after 36 years at the University
The Department of Mechanical Engineering is celebrating
the career of David Barker, who retired in April after 36 years of employment at the
University.
David began his career at the University as an Engineer in the Wolfson Laboratory, in the Department of Mechanical Engineering. David very quickly showed a keen interest in, and natural ability with, computers (in particular the Commodore PET). After a period in the Department's Instrumentation Laboratory, David took on the role of organising and supporting the Department's computing requirements.
On his retirement in April, David was working as Computing Support Manager within the Faculty of Engineering and Design.
Head of Department, Tony Miles, said: "We want to thank David for his hard work and dedication over the years. He has been a great asset to the Department and it will never be quite the same without him."
The Department is holding a Retirement Reception in David's honour, which will be taking place on Thursday 4 July, from 11am to 12:30pm. All who know David are welcome to come along and celebrate his career.
The event will be held in a marquee on the field next to 6 West South and 1 South (Chemistry). Light refreshments will be available.
If you would like to attend, please contact Cheryl Rothwell (C.A.Rothwell@bath.ac.uk).
