## Profile

Dr Roger Ngwompo is in charge of the Engineering with French programmes. He is affiliated with the Centre for Power Transmission and Motion Control. His research work involves the modelling, simulation and control of dynamic systems with particular interest in models inversion and its applications.

Dr Roger Ngwompo received the “Diplôme d’Ingénieur” degree in Electrical Engineering from INSA Toulouse in 1990, France and a PhD in Control Systems from INSA Lyon, France in 1997. He worked as a Field Engineer for Schlumberger Wireline & Testing in 1991-1992, and as a Research Officer at the “Laboratoire d’Automatique Industrielle” in Lyon in from 1997 before joining the University of Bath as a Lecturer in 1999.

## Research

Dr Ngwompo research work involves developing novel techniques for the modelling, analysis and simulation of dynamic systems. He has a particular interest in the bond graph modelling technique which is an energy-based method that enables graphical representation, analysis and automated generation of mathematical models for multi-domain engineering systems. An aircraft is a typical example of such complex systems and a collaborative links with Airbus UK has been established to develop models for conceptual and detailed design of various aircraft functions.

He is also involved in the theory of systems inversion with applications to dynamic systems synthesis, selection and sizing of components, analysis, fault detection and control.
