PVRC Facilities chassis-dynamometerOur state-of-the-art chassis dynamometer forms the hub of our vehicle research activities. The facility incorporates industry standard equipment operated according to robust experimental procedures.

  • Zöllner 2 independent 126kW DC machines driving 48" diameter rollers
  • Front or rear wheel drive; Max axle load 3000 kg
  • Vehicle mass simulation range 454 kg to 2722 kg (1000 Ibs to 6000 Ibs)
  • Base inertia of the chassis dynamometer system corresponds to a vehicle weight of 1360 kg (3000 Ibs)
  • Max. tractive force of each DC machine in continuous motoring mode 3600 N up to 126 km/h
  • Max. tractive force of each DC machine in continuous generator mode 3600 N below 126 km/h
  • Max. test speed 200 km/h; Standard vehicle size range

  • Max. vehicle height 3m (door height 2.65m - taller vehicles would require slave wheels for entry/exit)
  • Max. vehicle width 3.1m
  • Access ramp 1.5m high by 8.2m long as illustrated below
