The Materials Research Centre was established in June 2000
- To provide a stimulating informed environment for the pursuit of research
in the field of Materials Science and Engineering at the University
of Bath.
- To provide a focus for interdisciplinary research grant applications
and interactions with industry.
- To establish an internationally recognised centre of excellence that
will attract international scholars, experts and postgraduate students.
- To give a well established area of activity at the University a formal
identifiable label, by which it will be easily recognised both nationally
and internationally.
- To provide a credible base from which staff can respond to funding
initiatives in the field of materials.
- To provide a focus for the recruitment and training of postgraduate
students in the field of Materials Science and Engineering.
- To provide research underpinning for the delivery of high quality
materials teaching within the University.
