The Materials Research Centre within the Department of Mechanical Engineering has vacancies for undergraduates wishing to study for a PhD with either a First Class or 2(i) Honours Degree. Suitably qualified applicants are invited in the first instance to contact either Dr Patrick Keogh , Director of Postgraduate Studies or Mrs Deborah Bailes for further details.

Thermographic NDE research in the Materials
Research Centre led by Professor Darryl Almond is enjoying new funding
by the EPSRC. A consortium of six UK research groups at: Imperial College,
University of Bristol, University of Warwick, University of Nottingham,
Strathclyde University and the University of Bath form the EPSRC funded
UK Research Centre for NDE.
The research at Bath will concentrate on thermography NDE in recognition
of the considerable expertise that has been built up in this area over
many years. Two new research officers, Tim Barden
and Sung Quek have joined the Centre to
work on thermography.
