Student support
The University and the Students' Union offer you support to deal with academic, welfare and practical issues.
Make sure you know what's available and how we can help you, now or in the future.
Essentials
Once you've accepted your offer there are some essential things to do, and think about, before you plan your trip.
Registration
All students need to register at the beginning of each academic year.
- if you are a UK or EU student you can do this online before you arrive
- if you are an international student you will need to have your documents checked during induction week before you can complete your registration.
Budgeting and fees
It's important to know how much money you will need. You will definitely need a bank account and you may want to look at options for part-time work.
UK and EU students do not have to pay tuition fees upfront. If you are a self-funding student you can pay your fees by Direct Debit.
Our Student Funding Advice service can answer any queries you have.
Health
You need to make sure you are vaccinated against meningitis - this is advised for all first year undergraduates by the UK Department of Health. Several other vaccinations are also recommended before you come to university.
- you can register with the University Medical Centre as soon as you arrive
- there is a dental centre on campus.
