£2k award to help a student make a difference to humanity
The Ecumenical Chaplaincy Centre is offering students the opportunity to win either one award of £2,000 or two awards of £1,000 each (depending on applications received) to help fund a project of your choice which will make a difference to humanity.
The project or charity can be based anywhere in the world – in the UK or abroad.
Match-funding up to at least 50% of the award will be required. In other words the Chaplaincy is looking for the successful candidate/s to raise at least 50% of the costs themselves. So, if you win an award of £2,000 you will need to raise a further £1,000 yourself, or £500 if two awards of £1000 are made.
Full terms and conditions plus application forms are available from the Chaplaincy Centre or can be downloaded from the Chaplaincy website.
Closing date for applications is Monday 12 February 2007. (The successful applicant(s) will be notified by the 23 March 2007).
Notes
- Within two months of completion of the project the successful applicant(s) will be obliged to provide a report to the Chaplaincy Centre of not less than 1,000 words detailing their project and the difference it made and will be asked to make a formal presentation to the Chaplaincy at a time and date to be agreed. A retention of 10% will be made from the award which will only paid upon satisfaction of this condition.
- Where applicable the successful applicant(s) will be responsible for organising a valid passport and for securing any necessary visas. They will also be responsible for taking out adequate insurance and health advice.
- The successful applicant(s) must not take paid employment or provide free labour for any profit-making organisation during the course of the project.
- The successful applicant(s) must provide evidence of their proposed involvement in the project including a letter of endorsement/acceptance from the Director/Organiser of the project or charity confirming the dates during which the successful applicant(s) will participate.
- The making of any award should not be taken as a recommendation of the project in any way. Neither the Chaplaincy Centre nor the University of Bath nor any of its or their employees has checked the suitability of the project(s) and in particular no work based risk assessment has been completed nor have any checks been made upon the insurance status of the organisers of the project(s).
- Neither the Chaplaincy Centre nor the University of Bath nor any of its or their employees will be held liable for any loss or damage occurring as a result of the successful applicant(s) undertaking the project(s), howsoever such loss or damage may be caused.
