New poetry evening: the poems of Michael Longley

The poems of Michael Longley, one of Ireland's most significant contemporary poets, will be read and discussed at an evening event in Bath on Wednesday 25 March.

The New Poetry event will begin with an introduction by Dr David Skidmore, a lecturer in the University's Department of Education and a member of the Poetry Book Society of Bath, and will feature readings from Michael Longley's Collected Poems. The audience will be invited to share comments and discussion.

Dr Skidmore said: "Michael Longley's work is very lyrical. It has a strong sense of place and he is engaged with questions of identity."

The poetry evening will be held at the Bath Royal Literary and Scientific Institute (BRLSI) at 16-18 Queen Square. Admission is £2 (£1 students/BRLSI members) and tickets are available on the door. Doors open at 7.30pm.
