Proposals from professional & support services to reduce expenditure

The University is now entering a period of consultation on plans to reduce expenditure on our professional and support services by £2.5 million in 2009-10.

It is proposed that most of the savings will be achieved by deletion of vacant funded posts and reorganisation of remaining duties, accepting voluntary reductions in working hours and reducing operating budgets.

When successfully implemented, the plans will help the University to secure our financial sustainability, achieve a modest operating surplus next year, and also make some targeted investments in our core academic activities.

Heads of professional/support services, or appropriate line managers, will be meeting with staff who may be affected by the proposed changes.

The consultation period will close on 25 April 2009.
