Bath goes quackers for charity

More than a 1,000 rubber ducks will race down the River Avon in Bath on Bank Holiday Monday (4 May) to raise money for WaterAid.

The ducks will be hurled into the river at Pulteney Bridge with the winner being the first to cross the finish line at North Parade Bridge.

It’s being organised by Bath Rag, the University of Bath’s Student Union fund-raising wing, in conjunction with Wessex Water and WaterAid.

Ducks cost £1 each and money raised will go to WaterAid.

Scott Williams, one of the co-ordinators at the University of Bath, said: “It’s all about raising as much money as possible.

“Last year we raised £1,000 and we are hoping to beat that this year.

“It is a great family day out which usually attracts lots of children.

“We are just hoping that the sun comes out and brings the crowds with it.”

Bath MP Don Foster will commentate on the race this year.

The fun begins at Pulteney Bridge at 2pm with the race starting around 2.30pm.
