A starting point for your own business

Is it your dream to start a business? Despite the current economic climate there’s plenty of help at hand for budding entrepreneurs.

The University of Bath is running evening and daytime courses offering help and guidance for those willing to take the plunge.

The Self Employment Essentials course is run as three modules and has been designed to guide people through their self-employment options and help develop their skills to start a business.

The course will be taught at Carpenter House in the centre of Bath. It gives time to discuss options, develop business details and benefit from meeting other people who are also considering starting up in business.

Delia Slucutt, Enterprise Co-ordinator, said: "Deciding to start your own business can be a big decision and a daunting process.

“The new Self Employment Essentials course is designed to help you think through your options and move forward if self employment is the right decision for you.

“You gain knowledge on how to run a small business, you learn from experienced business tutors and you build morale and momentum with other people in the class.

“Forty per cent of the people who finished the parallel course (Women into Enterprise) were self-employed by the end of the course.

“We expect the statistics for Self Employment Essentials to be the same.”

Evening classes start from Tuesday 16 June and intensive day classes start on 8 September.

They costs £150 per module with discounts available for booking all three modules in advance
