Thank you! Cake sale raises £225 for Macmillan Cancer Support

Yesterday’s cake sale on the Parade raised £225 for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Sarah Moore, a member of staff from the School for Health, would like to thank everyone who supported her:

“I cannot believe we managed to raise so much money in one cake sale! I would like to thank everybody who came and bought a treat for themselves or who took away trays and bags of cakes for the office.”

“And also to everyone who kindly donated cakes to the table. They all looked incredible.

She added:  “I have been overwhelmed once again by everyone’s support and generosity. Especially the generosity of those who came up to me and just donated money without wanting a cake, or who rounded up £1 cakes to £5 as a donation.

“ It’s all given me more determination to raise as much money as I can for Macmillan.

“I heard a lot of support for Macmillan during the cake sale and I am so pleased to be representing a charity that really does touch the lives of a lot of people.”

If you missed out, fear not, the homemade cakes (ginger, carrot & pecan, triple choc fudge brownie cake, Oreo cheesecake – is your mouth watering yet?) will be returning in the autumn term. Get there early!

The money raised yesterday can be seen here added to Sarah’s fundraising target of £3,300:  www.justgiving.com/sarahmoore3300pounds

Notes

Sarah is preparing to get on her bike and cycle more than 680km (420 miles!) across Central America, on one of the greatest cycling experiences for Macmillan Cancer Support.

The 13-day challenge from 21 November–3 December 2009 will see Sarah cycle 680 hot, humid kilometres, from Panama City to Lake Nicaragua, taking in the beautiful Costa Rican coast along the way.
