Summer award ceremonies – vox pops

The University’s summer award ceremonies began yesterday, with students from the School of Management the first to graduate.

Joseph Tamshick graduated with a BSc in International Management and Modern Languages. He said: “It was a fantastic ceremony in the Abbey. I have great memories of my time in Bath and I’m coming away with a good degree. Now I’m planning to go travelling.”

International Management with German graduate Rachael Anderson said: “I feel really happy and kind of relieved that the hard work is over and it’s all paid off. I’m sad to be saying goodbye to friends but I’m going to stay on in Bath for a while to look for a job.”

Aliya Karmali's parents travelled from Dubai to see her graduate

Aliya Karmali graduated in Business Administration and is staying on to study an MSc in International Management. She said: “Today is very exciting. It’s been a good four years. I just can’t believe it’s all over. My family have come over from Dubai to see me graduate and I’ve been showing them around Bath.”

Business Administration graduate Jennifer Harte said: “Today has made all the hard work worthwhile. I’ve loved being in Bath and I’m really sad to be leaving. I’m going travelling with friends from Uni.”

Laston Nsemwa received his degree in Business Administration and is now set to join a graduate training programme with BP. He said: “The ceremony was great but I was a bit nervous. I’ve had an awesome time in Bath. There’s been a lot of variety on my course and lots of different experiences.”

Laston’s mum, Nellie Nsemwa, said she was very proud of her son’s achievement, particularly as the family moved to London from Tanzania when he was a young boy.
