University offers management qualification online

Managers and people wishing to develop their management skills are being invited to sign up for an online programme being run by the University of Bath.

The programme is being offered through the University's Division for Lifelong Learning and is accredited to the Chartered Management Institute (CMI).

The Professional Skills Management Units are offered via distance learning using Moodle, the University's virtual learning environment.

The aim is to develop core management skills and practices and enhance employability.

The 13 units are written in line with the Chartered Management Institute's Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management, designed for practising middle managers who wish to develop their core management skills and practices.

Previous students have said it has helped with their "career progression" and have described the units as a "recommended management programme, where life experiences are supported by management theory and work based tasks."

Students can start the programme on 1 October, 1 January or 1 April. Each unit costs £240.

The units can be studied individually to build up to a University Certificate and/or CMI Certificate or Diploma.

Free taster sessions, where interested parties can come along and talk to the tutor, watch a demonstration of the online facilities and meet potential fellow students, are being held at Carpenter House in Bath on Thursday 3 September, 6-8pm and Saturday 5 September, 10am-12pm.
