Professor Glennys Howarth, former director of the Department of Social & Policy Science’s Centre for Death & Society (CDAS), has featured in a BBC documentary about death.
“Two feet in the grave”, shown last night (Tuesday 29 September) on BBC 1, followed actor Richard Wilson as he investigated why people have such difficulty discussing death.
Professor Howarth, who recently left the University and is now at the University of Sydney, discussed with Richard the Victorian practice of taking photographs of the dead.
The programme is available to watch on BBC iPlayer until Tuesday 6th October. The interview with Professor Howarth is at 38 min 33 sec.
