New Director of Bath Ventures appointed

Ron Humphreys has been appointed as the new Director of Bath Ventures.

Ron, the current Head of Corporate Relations at the University, will take up his new position from Sunday 1 November and will succeed Dr Malcolm Cross.

His appointment coincides with the announcement of plans to expand the Innovation Centre based in Carpenter House to provide additional space for local entrepreneurs as well as conference and meeting facilities.

"I'm really looking forward to this new challenge and working with the Bath Ventures team, with some of whom I have had successful connections in the past," said Ron.

"The expansion of the facilities at Carpenter House is great news and will allow us to build even stronger links with businesses in the region."

Building on the University's excellent track record in innovation and entrepreneurship, Bath Ventures was established in 2008 to maximise the return on the University's intellectual assets for the benefit of staff, the University, the economy and society.

The department provides:

  • Identification and development of the University's most exciting commercial prospects.
  • Expert, promotion and marketing support.
  • Engagement with intellectual property and legal services to provide expert and efficient deal negotiation training and mentoring.

Ron will still continue to have a remit regarding corporate relations which includes regular engagement with Bath & North East Somerset Council and the Regional Development Agency via Science City Bristol.

He will also continue in his co-ordinating role for the University in preparations for the London Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2012.
