Women interested in promoting their businesses online are being invited to a special internet-themed event for National Women’s Enterprise Day 2009.
Delights of the Digital Age is a workshop and networking event organised by the University of Bath, Business Link South West and networking organisation Mission Possible.
It is being held at the University of Bath Claverton Campus on Wednesday 18 November and includes a chance to hear from three successful female online entrepreneurs and learn from their experiences.
Suzanne Daykin, a previous student of the award winning Women into Enterprise course, will talk about her information websites which gain income through Google advertising.
Anna Farmery will be discussing how to start an internet business with just £500 using blogging, Twitter and podcasts to get a message across, and Sue Stockdale will be discussing how she grew her networking organisation Mission Possible by expanding her website and using Linked In.
The day is designed to inspire women to take control and follow in the footsteps of the speakers and is part of National Enterprise Week.
Women’s Enterprise Day is all about celebrating women in business and encouraging many more to turn their passions into profit.
There are around 680,000 majority women-owned businesses in the UK generating £45 billion to the UK economy.
Delia Slucutt, Women’s Enterprise Coordinator at the University of Bath, will start the event by discussing the importance of women using the internet in business.
She said: “I strongly believe that the internet is now a very accessible and inexpensive method for women to publicise their amazing business ideas.
“Women just need to build up the confidence to try the new social media methods which are based on building human relationships quickly- something that many women find natural anyway. The internet is letting us play to our strengths! “
The day costs £15, which includes a hot lunch. Places are available to women only and can be booked online.
