Bath residents can once again enjoy Bath’s biggest public firework display on Saturday 7 November, organised by Bath Rag the University of Bath’s student fundraising group, part of the Students’ Union.
In case of adverse weather, we will update this page if the fireworks display is to be cancelled.
The University of Bath Family Fireworks will be held at the Claverton Down campus, and will feature the usual funfair and radio roadshow, as well as the fireworks display itself, provided by the Northern Lights team.
The roadshow will be provided by 1449AM URB, the student radio station, with performances by University arts societies, showcasing a wide range of student talent, from fire juggling to singing and dancing.
There will be a marquee serving drinks, as well as several catering vans serving a variety of food. The Parade bar will also be open serving hot drinks and food. There is a suggested minimum donation of £2 per person or £5 per family, with proceeds going to local and national charities. Bath Rag has raised over £1 million since it began in 1967, and each year donates funds to around 50 local and national charities.
The event is kindly sponsored by Wessex Connect, Cowlin and ISG Pearce, with additional support from other local companies.
Sam Durbin, volunteer event organiser said: “This year’s event will be more spectacular than ever, with a range of entertainments as well as some fantastic fireworks!”
Tom Davidson, Volunteer Support Worker, said: “It shouldn’t pass without mention that this large-scale event has been organised by student volunteers who have worked around their study commitments to bring the event to both students and residents alike.”
This year’s event will be held on Saturday 7th November 2008 from 6-10pm. Entertainment will begin at 7pm and the firework display around 8pm. For general enquiries about the event, please contact the Students’ Union on 01225 386612.
