Today JISC has launched a year-long campaign called ‘Research 3.0 – driving the knowledge economy’, to debate how digital technologies are changing not only what research we do, but how it can be carried out.
Research organisation UKOLN, which is based here at the University of Bath, has written the ‘Open Science’ report which forms a cornerstone of this campaign.
In addition, the Times Higher has published a supplement: ‘The Data Revolution’ which highlights how JISC is supporting universities and the Research Councils to advance in the ever-changing technology landscape. It references both UKOLN and the University of Bath and includes quotes from Dr Liz Lyon, Director of UKOLN.
As part of the campaign, JISC has also launched a new video, ‘How digital technologies are creating a new paradigm in research’, which is fronted by Dr Phil Hammond, writer, broadcaster and GP.
It sets the agenda for the coming year and introduces the key issues such as how to share data, why collaborate and how to publish research work online.
You may recognise some of the shots in the film as the University allowed access to our library, and laboratories and lecture theatres in 5W as part of the production.
Thanks to all those who gave up their time to help with this filming project.
