Christmas 2009 opening times

The last working day before Christmas will be Thursday 24 December 2009 and the University will resume normal working on Monday 4 January 2010.

During the Christmas and New Year period many facilities and services on campus and in Bath have limited opening hours:

Security

  • The University Security Office will be staffed 24 hours a day as normal during the closure period and the telephone number is ext 5349
  • If you have any enquiries, please go to the reception desk in the Library, which will be manned by Security 24 hours a day - ext 3853
  • Emergencies: dial 666 for Security, 999 or 112 for Ambulance, Fire/Rescue services and Police

Resident Tutors in Halls of Residence

For students staying in University residences over the vacation, the Resident Tutors will be on duty over the Christmas period. This is mainly to deal with emergencies but students are welcome to be in touch if they need advice or have any concerns. Please see your kitchen posters for the duty mobile numbers to call.

Sports facilities – STV

  • 24 December 2pm – 28 December 9am: Closed
  • 28 December – 31 December: 9am – 4pm
  • 1 January 2010 – 2 January: Closed
  • 3 January: 9am – 5pm
  • Normal opening hours from 4 January.

Medical Centre

The University Medical Centre will be open throughout the holidays, closing only on:

  • Friday 25 December
  • Monday 28 December
  • Friday 1 January

Dental Emergencies

The Dental Centre will be open at the following times over Christmas and the New Year for dental emergencies and routine enquiries:

24 December: 9 – 11am
25 – 28 December: Closed
29 – 31 December 9am – 11am
1 – 3 January: Closed
4 January: Open as usual

If you have a dental emergency when the surgery is closed, please call the NHS dental helpline on 08451 206680

On 24, 29, 30 and 31 December, if you are a patient of the practice and have an emergency between the hours of 9am to 5pm please call the surgery on 01225 386065 and listen to the advice on the answerphone.

  • 19-23 December: normal hours

International Students – Staying in Bath over Christmas?

The last appointments with International Student Advisers before Christmas will be on 23 December, and should be booked through the Student Services Centre.

On your own on Christmas Day? – Bath Open Christmas provides Christmas dinner and company to anyone who would otherwise be on their own on Christmas Day and is based in Kingswood School on Lansdown Road. For more details, please contact the International Office.

Chaplaincy Centre

Open throughout the holiday from 9am to 6pm but there will be no chaplains on duty. Students are welcome to use the Centre – please tidy up when you leave.

Department of Estates – maintenance requests

  • Over the holiday period emergency repairs or problems should be communicated to Security (see Related Links).
  • All normal, non-urgent requests can be submitted electronically to the Department by clicking on the green button on the Estates homepage; these will be processed on Monday 4 January when the department re-opens.
  • Estates would like to remind everyone about taking energy saving measures over the holidays.

Imaging, Design & Print Services

  • Closed from 12 noon on Thursday 24 December.
  • Reopens at 9am on Monday 4 January.

Transport

  • There are no bus services on 25/26 December.  See  Wessex Connect (pdf) and  First websites for more details.
  • National Express will operate reduced services on 24 and 26 December. There will be no service on 25 December. Visit their website for further information.
