University open as normal today (Thursday)

The University of Bath will be open as normal today (Thursday 14 January).

Conditions overnight have been better than forecast – roads are slushy but not as icy as expected.

The bus companies have already confirmed that they are running a full service.

Widcombe Hill is currently closed due to an accident; all other access roads to the campus are fully useable at the time of writing.

Roads, paths and car parks have been cleared as far as possible and most car parking spaces are useable. Some surfaces will, however, still be slippery.

Staff, students and visitors are advised to take care when using paths and car parks on campus. Please also be alert for slippery, wet floor surfaces in the entrances to buildings.

If you work late, please take extra care if conditions becomes icy.

Staff should make every possible effort to attend work in the interests of maintaining a normal service through the current bad weather. Those using public transport should use the first available service if there are early morning cancellations.

All classes and any assessments will take place as planned, with the exception of 8.15am and 9.15am classes which are cancelled. All semester 1 examinations, which start on 18 January, are expected to take place as planned.

Opening times

  • Fresh shop will open at 8am
  • Blues Café will open at 8am
  • Other catering and retail outlets will be opening as soon as possible
  • Sports Training Village will open at 8am
  • Westwood Nursery will open at 9.45am
