A Knowledge Transfer Proof of Concept Award has been given to the School of Management to help develop ways in which to reduce carbon emissions.
The funding will develop an Engineering & Physical Sciences Research Council-funded project called Lowcarbonworks, which aids organisations to reduce the carbon they use which will help to reach the Government’s target of 80 per cent reduction in carbon by 2050.
Professor Peter Reason and his team will work with a Knowledge Transfer Mentor to explore the financial sustainability of taking their research into business, working with policymakers, the private and public sectors through workshops.
A typical workshop invites participants to share examples of how other organisations have tried to implement low carbon technologies, to explore a theory of low carbon change, and to work with practical tools to understand how the theory plays out in their own work.
Professor Reason said: “The key is that we help organisations learn for themselves how to build the capacity and the resilience to address these complex issues.”
Dr Jon Hunt, Project Director of the Knowledge Transfer Account, added: “This project is likely to have a high impact on society and the economy.”
