Update Wed 11.15am - Conditions are deteriorating

Staff who have not already set off are advised to stay at home; others who have made it to the University are welcome to go home when they consider it advisable in the light of local weather conditions.

University is now opening today (Wednesday)

Bathwick Hill is now fully open. Widcombe Hill and North Road are, however, impassable and Brassknocker Hill is currently closed due to an accident.

HE sector – Reductions in public funding for 2010/11

In addition to the £180m efficiency savings announced in the 2009 Budget, a grant letter from the Secretary of State for Business, Innovation & Skills announced a further reduction of £135m in funding for HE. Until we (at Bath) receive our recurrent grant letter in March, we cannot be sure what the impact will be on our own institutional funding for next year.

Important information for students returning to campus

We have compiled some advice for students to bear in mind when returning to campus this weekend.

Adverse weather conditions - 4pm update 8 Jan 2010

The University will open from tomorrow (Saturday 9 January). We expect to hold all planned revision week activities next week (excpept 8.15am sessions - check with your department) and we expect to advise all staff to attend for work as normal on Monday.

University essentially closed today (Fri 8 Jan)

Due to conditions on campus the University of Bath campus will essentially be closed today, Friday 8 January. Staff who wish to come on to campus can do so at their own risk but should take great care.

Death of Jim Wadley, former Assistant Registrar

It is with regret that the University announces of the death of former Assistant Registrar Jim Wadley. Jim worked in the University from 1974 until his retirement in 1997.
