Pharmacy students practise diagnostic skills on robotic patient

A SimMan 3G robot, called Simon, that can be programmed to have a range of medical conditions, from heart disease to constipation, is being used by Pharmacy students at the University to help practise diagnostic skills and treating patients. The robot is a life-sized model that talks, breathes and reacts to medicines in the same way as a real human. He can be examined for blood pressure, heart and lung function, and can even be changed into a female!

New starters in January 2010

The new starters update gives the name, job title and department of all new members of staff at the University who started in the previous month.

New ‘one stop shop’ for all staff travel needs

Following a lengthy and comprehensive tender process, Ian Allan Travel have been selected as the University’s first ever staff Travel Management Company (TMC). Ian Allan will provide a “one stop shop” for all staff travel needs: air (including low cost carriers e.g. Easyjet), rail, hotels and car hire, as well as providing assistance with passports, visa requirements and up-to-date travel advice.
