A lecture on Wednesday 10 March will examine the nature and causes of contemporary war and conflict, and consider the prospect for peace in the 21st Century.
Professor Adrian Hyde-Price from the Department of European Studies & Modern Languages draws on the analytical tools and ethical sensibilities of realism.
Despite hopes that the end of the cold war would lead to a liberal peace and a ‘new world order’, the last two decades have witnessed a series of destructive wars in Europe, the Middle East, Asia and Africa.
The lecture explores the dilemmas of international security in a globalising world undergoing profound and far-reaching structural transformations.
The lecture is free and starts at 6:15pm and will be held in Lecture Theatre 5 West 2.3
