There are two vacancies for members of Academic Assembly to serve on Senate for a period of three years from August 2010 and one vacancy for a member of Academic Assembly to serve on Senate to July 2011.
Senate is responsible for regulating and directing the academic work of the University and is regarded as the supreme academic authority of the University.
Members of Senate have the opportunity to gain an insight into the workings of the University as a whole and contribute to debate on key academic issues facing the University.
Recent examples of such issues have included the proposals for academic re-organisation, the introduction of the new assessment framework for the University, the development of the University’s Corporate Plan and consideration of new programmes to be offered by the University.
Further details of the role of member of Senate are available online (PDF).
Members of Academic Assembly are encouraged to submit nominations for these vacancies to Colette Milner not later than 5pm on Friday 9 April 2010.
Further details of the requirements for submission of nominations have been circulated to Members of Academic Assembly by e-mail.
