What world do you see? Co-founder of Zopa shares his vision

The co-founder of Zopa, the online marketplace where people lend and borrow money, sidestepping banks, will give a free public lecture at the University of Bath on Tuesday 4 May.

James Alexander is also CEO of Green Thing, an organisation that inspires people to lead a greener life. It focuses on seven things people can do and enjoy to be more environmentally friendly. He is described as a highly practical business creator and innovative strategist.

Professor John Hudson, from the University’s Department of Economics, said: “James Alexander offers fascinating insights from his vast business experience, having developed not just a profitable internet-based business, but also a new way of borrowing and lending money. He shows what can be done when you take customer insight really seriously, are very focused on a vision and strategy and approach everything with a ‘can do’ attitude.”

Prior to Zopa, Mr Alexander was Strategy Director at Egg, a world leader in digital banking. He launched Egg’s digital TV and mobile services and the UK’s first and most successful account aggregation service. Before Egg, James worked at LEK Consulting, where he developed the business case for Smile, Co-operative Bank’s internet bank.

The lecture, entitled What world do you see? will be held on Tuesday 4 May at 6.30pm in 5W 2.3. Admission is free – no need to book in advance. For further information please contact Professor Hudson
